Tower Heist

According to what is says here, Tower Heist is a working man’s Ocean’s Eleven. I agree with that. What it lacks in wit and slickness it makes up for in….uh….funny? Well it was funny for the most part. Ben Stiller was the Danny Ocean of this movie. He’s  not  as suave as George Clooney, but neither I am. Seriously, I’m not. It should also be noted by me that I enjoyed seeing Eddie Murphy making adult comedy again. He needs to keep that up.

Anywho….the movie follows a group of co-workers at a fancy pants New York apartment building who are screwed out of their life’s savings by a rich man’s Ponzi scheme. Alan Alda plays the rich man Arthur Shaw real good like. Hilarity and outsmartiness  ensues as the building manager Josh Kovacs (Ben Stiller) and his wacky gang of misfits (Matthew Broderick, Casey Affleck, Michael Peña, Stephen Henderson, and Gabourey Sidibe) devise a plan to get their money back. Although I wouldn’t call this the  funniest movie I saw this year, I wouldn’t call it the least funny either. I would, and dammit I will, say that Tower Heist is an entertaining comedy that requires very little thought to watch. That’s really all I expected of it.

While we here at Jay Likes Movies do recommend you see the movie, it wouldn’t hurt to wait until it comes out of DVD. I probably should have.
